Headshots for Authors
One of the first things I do when I open a book is to look at the portrait of the author on the book jacket. This photograph is one of the elements that sets the tone of the entire reading experience. Publishing companies often require authors to supply their own book jacket portraits. I photograph established and first-time authors in my studio or on location.
My mission is to visually capture the voice that comes through in the writer’s work, so our first conversation will be about the book and the message it conveys. From there we will discuss how the author's portrait will complement that message. Our discussion will include location, clothing, and the general atmosphere we are aiming for. Photography sessions for authors are priced individually, but generally include a clothing change, a variety of backgrounds, an online proofing gallery, and a retouched high-resolution file that I can send directly to the publisher once approved.
