Q: What should we wear for a family portrait?
A. Some families prefer that everyone dress alike for a portrait. This can create a pleasing, uniform look that allows the facial expressions to come through. But this approach is not necessary, especially if you have individuals in your family who like to make "fashion statements." I encourage people to at least wear similar tones (all light colors, all dark colors, etc.). In general, it's best to avoid black or white, or bold patterns. Every family is different, and we work with that.
Q: I'm afraid my child will be cranky during the photo session. What can we do if this happens?
A: Crankiness is to be expected. One way to minimize this is to plan sessions around naptimes. Another is to have the session at an area familiar to the child, such as his or her home or a nearby park. My specialty is patience, so I can outwait a bad mood if necessary.
Q: : I love the look of black and white photography, but I want color also. Can you do both?
A: I charge the same for black and white or color photography and can easily include them both in one session.
Q: I want something different for a portrait of my child. What do you suggest?
A: Color-tinted portraits have a classic and unique look. These are black-and-white photographs with a hint of color added to just a few areas to add depth and interest.
Q: How long do the sessions last?
A: This depends on many factors, such as the number of people to be photographed, the ages of the children or child, and how many locations we use. In general, sessions last between one and two hours.
